Yom Kippur Appeal 5786/2025

Raising funds to replace our ageing, failing Boiler with a new, more efficient and safer system

Our Shul boiler is now past its sell by date and is frequently failing. It is inefficient and expensive to maintain and is no longer fit for purpose.

It is essential that, for the comfort and safety of all who use the building for various purposes, we replace the present boiler with a system that will provide heat and hot water in an efficient and financially economic way.

For our local Yom Kippur Appeal, we would like your help to start a fund to purchase a new boiler system that is likely to cost in excess of £50,000.

PLEASE GIVE AS GENEROUSLY AS YOU CAN TO HELP US BUY A NEW BOILER

Yom Kippur Appeal 5786/2025

In recent years we have successfully raised funds for many projects from which the community has benefitted. This year we have identified an issue that equally needs your help and support.

As we enter the colder months, we are reminded how fortunate we are to gather in a Shul that not only fills our hearts but also protects us from the elements. However, like any long-standing home, our building needs care to remain safe, welcoming, and fit for purpose.

After many years, our Shul’s boiler has reached the end of its life. Despite regular maintenance, it is now unreliable, inefficient, and uneconomical to run. It must be replaced before it fails completely.

This is not just a matter of comfort. The boiler provides heating and hot water – without it, our daily services and wide range of communal programmes such as Chat and Share would be disrupted, particularly through the winter months. The provision of hot water also underpins many of our communal needs, making this an essential rather than optional project.

The cost of installing a new, energy-efficient boiler system is significant, in the region of £50,000. Considerable preparatory work has already been carried out, including various surveys, and the consultants have identified the need for a two-boiler system, the key elements of which are identified on the appeal cards so that you can see what your donation will contribute to.

We trust that, together, we can start a fund to purchase this much needed equipment and every donation made will go directly towards this project.

By supporting this appeal, you are not only ensuring warmth and safety but also helping us maintain a vibrant centre for prayer, learning, and community life. Together, we can secure the Shul’s future as a welcoming home for all.
