PROGRAMME FOR FEBRUARY 2018

7th FEBRUARY

CLOSED

The annual Holocaust Remembrance Education Programme is taking place at the Synagogue and we are unable to use the premises. We are back again on Wednesday, 14th February.

14th FEBRUARY

1.30 – 3.30 p.m.

GRAPHOLOGY – ANDREA FREEDMAN

As many of you will know Graphology is the study of handwriting.  Andrea has worked professionally as a graphologist.  She has taught it, given displays on cruises, and now she treats it as a hobby.  Andrea will be showing examples of the handwriting of famous people and analysing these for us.  She hopes to give you some understanding of her ability to discern someone’s personality through her knowledge to analyse their handwriting.

21st FEBRUARY

1.30 – 3.30 p.m.

EARLY AMERICAN HUMOURISTS – EDDIE SUMMERS

The very amusing Eddie Summers returns with his take on American Humorists in the early part of the 20th Century. This will include, amongst others, Groucho Marx, Mark Twain, Damon Runyan, and S J Pearlman. He plans to give a potted biography of each humorist and examples of their type of humour. Eddie promises a fair amount of laughter during his talk.

28th FEBRUARY

1.30 – 3.30 p.m.

STANLEY HOLLOWAY AND THE MONOLOGUES – JONATHAN JONES

Stanley Holloway (1890-1982) was an English stage and film actor, humorist, singer and monologist.  Jonathan will be concentrating on Stanley Holloway’s unique ability to perform monologues, such as Sam, Sam, Pick Oop Tha Musket, and Albert & The Lion.

Jonathan himself is no slouch at poetry reading and will prove that once again for us this afternoon.
